The Government Degree College, Rampachodavaram is situated nearby the river “GODAVARI’’ in Rampachodavaram village which is 56 Kms away from the town Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari Dist(presently Alluri Seetha Ramaraju District). It is a tribal area surrounded by Eastern Ghats. This region is popularly known as "Agency" in Andhra Pradesh.
Government accorded permission for the establishment of college on 13 th September, 1983 vide GO. MS. NO.376 Education Department dt. 12-9-1983 by acquiring 9.1 acres of land for the construction of buildings.
In 1983,initially ,the college was run in Government Junior College, Rampachodavaram.In October 1987, the college was shifted to the newly constructed building. In April 1999 a computer lab was constructed.In 2005 Science Block was consructed . In June 2020 the Modern Block with seven rooms was constructed. The College celebrated Silver Jubilee in 2008 on completion of 25 years.The college has R.O Water Plant donated by ITDA Rampachodavarm in 2019.
The college has a Canteen for staff and students , Student Comsumer Co-operative Society run by students , Women Empowerment Cell , multi-purpose Gymnasium and three gardens viz.. Ornamental Flower Garden, Medicinal plant Garden , Timber Yielding plant Garden maintained by the students of Department of Forestry.
